JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Production Packer is responsible for keeping production lines moving efficiently and ensuring all product is packaged within Riviana's guidelines, safety procedures, rules and policies. The production Packer works individually and with a team at different stations throughout the day to create a finished product.

This is an entry level position that provides training, growth and advancement to the next levels.

As a Production Packer it is critical to comprehend and understand the importance of; and follow all safety policies, protocols and procedures while working. The Production Packer works under the direction of the Production Shift Lead.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Additional overtime may be required as directed by the Packaging Supervisor or Manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform high quality work with little to no errors
  • Be conscious and aware of your work and work surroundings
  • Assist in setup of line equipment
  • Feed and monitor flow of product into processing machinery
  • Tape or fold cartons, chipboards or packaging related materials or items
  • Assemble assortment packs or repacks
  • Perform visual and physical product inspections
  • Stack finished products on pallets
  • Rework product as needed
  • Handle inventory quickly with a high level of accuracy, care and attention to detail
  • Work well independently and within a team to complete projects and accomplish the goals of the department and Riviana
  • Work at different stations as production requires
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment
  • Perform all work in accordance with Riviana, state and federal food and safety standards, policies, rules, regulations and procedures
  • Perform visual and physical product inspections
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Interact with plant workers in a manner which fosters positivity, good teamwork and cooperation and ensures an efficient and productive operation.
  • Safely operate forklift and pass certification a plus.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Work around known allergens (gluten and wheat)
  • High School diploma or other equivalent experience or education
  • Speak, read and write English
  • Perform basic math
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Lift up to 24 lbs.
  • Maintain prolonged physical and mental effort
  • Using arms, hands and fingers to reach, handle and feel.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of time
  • Follow all Riviana's, state and federal food and safety guidelines
  • Pass all drug, visual, audio, physical tests and background check
