parents and help them understand the foster care system. Parent Advocates will support parents in
maintaining relationships with their children, navigating communication with foster parents, and making
decisions for their families. Each Parent Advocate will be paired with a Case Planning Unit and will carry a
caseload of approximately 10-12 parents with a goal of reunification.
Essential Functions
- Prepare parents for and participate in Family Team Conferences and other meetings related to their
- Work collaboratively with the case planning team.
- Support high-quality family time by using the Rise TIPS and other supportive resources with
- Assist parents in accessing services by accompanying them to appointments and providing
- Collect required documents for housing, complete online applications, record data in applicable
- Empower parents to be fully involved in case planning and permanency planning for their children.
- Participate in weekly processing groups with a clinician to help the Parent Advocates maintain
- Complete and document a limited number of casework contacts with parents in accordance with
- Attend all related trainings, including trainings provided by ACS, Rise, and other organizations.
- Additional related functions as needed.
- Personal experience with the child welfare system as a parent required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must have good oral and written communication skills
- Ability and willingness to collaborate and hear other perspectives
- Ability to maintain healthy boundaries and confidentiality
- Ability to travel to all five boroughs as needed to meet with and support parents
Pay Rate: $35,000
