GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to perform a variety of duties involving the maintenance of park grounds and facilities. This is a safety sensitive position and you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city and pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check. This position is evenings and weekends.
The base hourly rate of this position will be going to $15.00 per hour in January 2023The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Performs maintenance and repairs of park grounds, buildings, structures and equipment by performing landscaping, painting, carpentry, minor electrical, minor plumbing, fencing, mechanical and irrigation repair.
- Performs maintenance tasks to include mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, painting, minor trade and irrigation repairs and sports field preparation.
- Operates trucks, tractors, mowers and a variety of hand & power tools.
- Purchases parts and supplies required for work performed.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled equipment repair and preventative maintenance.
- Cleans park grounds, restrooms, buildings, structures, and equipment.
- Performs scheduled facility, grounds, equipment and irrigation system inspections, repair and maintenance.
- Performs facility inspections for safety and needed repairs caused by damage from usage or vandalism.
- Performs make ready services to ahletic fields, pavilions and rented or scheduled use areas.
- Collects trash, debris, recycled materials and keeps inventory; restocks and, communicates janitorial or cleaning item needs.
- Performs related work as required.
Athletic Fields:
- Prepares and maintains athletic fields by dragging, painting lines, setting dimensions and performing renovation or repair projects.
- Performs and applies proper pruning/trimming practices of trees or shrubs; cleans up and disposes of debris.
- Operates, maintains and repairs irrigation systems and related controlling devices.
- High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
- At least one (1) year of related work experience, such as landscape maintenance.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position, may be substituted or evaluated at the discretion of the City.

Valid driver’s license
Knowledge of:
- English grammar, spelling, punctuation
- Landscaping, building and ground maintenance and safety regulations
- Procedures and practices of maintenance and equipment and equipment repair
- Products or chemicals used to control weeds and insect pests
- Tools and equipment required for skilled/trade maintenance tasks
- Purchasing policies, procedures and limits
- Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
- Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
- Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
- Carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, painting, irrigation repair, mechanics and equipment operation
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Perform equipment preventative maintenance and minor repair
- Follow safety regulations regarding vehicle, equipment and tool use
- Identify tree species, structural issues and related concerns
- Maintain proper records and documentation of inspections and repairs made
- Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files
- The position involves very heavy physical demands, such as exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
