Parking Enforcement Officers are responsible for providing professional, friendly, unsurpassed customer service while enforcing city-wide parking regulations. Direct interaction with the public is frequently required for the position, which is often the first and/or last impression presented to the customer. Our most successful Officers are self-motivated, positive individuals with excellent communication skills. We are looking for applicants who have the ability to walk up 10-15 miles a day on concrete sidewalks and other uneven surfaces under a variety of weather conditions; ability to comfortably communicate and interact with all types of people; have experience writing reports; using a handheld ticket writer, desktop computer, digital camera, and/or portable radio; and the ability to work swing shift and Saturdays. What are the minimum qualifications? Must pass the pre-employment background checkMust have an Oregon Driver License and have a driving record that meets the City of Salem’s driving standards.High School diploma or GED and three years of transactional customer service experience, including in-person verbal communication with customers relating to business policies and procedures, or any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.
