Job Title: Manager

Reports to: Board of Directors

Salary Range: $55,000-$70,000, plus performance-based compensation and retirement plan

Position Summary

The Crawford County Recreation Center (CCRC) Manager provides executive leadership, and in partnership with the Board of Directors, plans, develops, directs, and evaluates comprehensive recreation programs and services for the Community. Assesses and monitors community needs; identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and is responsible for the center’s daily operations and overall success. Leads the organization in achieving its mission, including overseeing its financial stability, community relations, staffing, development, and operations, under the policies, directives and guidelines established by the Board of Directors.

Essential Functions:

1. Provides support and leadership to the Board of Directors as its executive officer, implements its policies, plans and directives, and reports to the Board on matters affecting the welfare of the organization.

2. Provides top leadership to the organization’s philanthropic efforts, maximizing community partnerships, engaging volunteers, and cultivating and soliciting top donors and community leaders.

3. Oversees daily operations and CCRC programs. Works with the Board and staff to anticipate and address community needs. Responsible for the development, communication and implementation of effective strategies and processes.

4. Communicates and collaborates with government, schools, other not-for profits, corporations and other organizations in the community.

5. Provides leadership in securing needed resources for current operations, capital improvement, community development and long-range financial stability.

6. Directs the staff to carry out initiatives, assignments and programs under the approved strategic plan and annual budget. Ensures a positive workplace culture and effective staff organization.

7. Directs the development of the strategic plan and assures the accomplishment of organizational goals and objectives.

8. Develops and recommends annual budget for Board approval. Ensures appropriate and best practice fiscal management, reporting and controls. Oversees financial operations.

9. Develops, manages and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets.

10. Coordinates the development of board committees. Directs the program volunteer activities at the CCRC.

11. Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support the mission, goals and strategies of the organization. Directs marketing and communication efforts.

12. Ensures the maintenance of facilities and properties to assure high standards of maintenance, safety, cleanliness and to assure that the requirements of regulatory codes are fully met.

13. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, community relations, business administration, human services or related area preferred.

2. Related executive/leadership certification preferred.

3. Five or more years broad management experience, preferably in the recreation and/or not-for-profit sector, including strategic planning, board and volunteer development, and philanthropic development.

4. Demonstrated experience in community relations, financial development, financial management, and board and volunteer development.

5. Ability to attract, retain, lead and motivate quality staff and volunteer leadership.

6. Knowledge and understanding of community resources and the ability to engage and partner with these resources.

7. Ability to connect and be viewed at a peer-to-peer level with other community executives.

8. Ability to articulate organization mission, vision, and values effectively to community and industry partners.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more weight. If individual must lift and/or move weight beyond their ability, they must ask for assistance from another staff member. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
