JOB
This position provides maintenance and repairs to the City of Madison’s 270 parks, golf courses, and boat launches in order that each park user enjoys a quality experience. This is a semi-skilled position performing a variety of tasks related to building maintenance, equipment maintenance, irrigation maintenance, as well as performing routine preventative maintenance for mechanical equipment, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, minor electrical repairs, and minor plumbing repairs. This position will also perform pool and splash pad maintenance. This position performs snow removal, as well as a broad range of maintenance tasks that includes painting, carpentry, and graffiti removal.Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from September through May; Sunday through Thursday from June through August.Employees may be eligible for loan forgiveness through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform duties related to routine preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment in the parks facilities and maintenance facilitiesPreventive routine, daily, monthly, quarterly, maintenance for HVAC systems that includes, boilers, pumps, fans VAV devices, pools, splash pads and fountains Routine maintenance and trouble-shooting for electrical systems that includes but is not limited to bulb replacement, GFI circuits, fire alarm, sound system security system, simple repairs of electrical and outdoor and indoor low voltage lightingProvide daily painting as needed for graffiti removal and painting projectsRoutine maintenance and trouble-shooting for indoor and outdoor water features and irrigation systems which includes pumps and filters, blowing out and winterizingAnnual pier, boat launch and mooring field installation and removalPerform routine repairs and maintenance for a large public building which may include but is not limited to: , sealants and flashings, minor construction such as installing shelves and furniture repair, weather-stripping, caulking, cleaning, floor maintenance etc.Painting Door locks and latchesSealants, flashings, weather-stripping, caulkingFurniture repairs and minor construction such as installing shelvesPainting and refurbishing park signature signs Glass and screen replacementInstall light switches, wall outlets and light fixturesSnow removal as needed at parks facilitiesOther related work as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of varied custodial, building maintenance, or repair work.If an applicant does not possess the specific requirements outlined above, HR will review the application materials to determine if the applicant possesses the following equivalent experience: Two (2) years experience in applying the following: Building maintenance including mechanical, electrical, plumbing installation, or repair work.Familiarity with the following: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning mechanical (HVAC) systems. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Possession of a valid Driver's License.The selected candidate must complete Certified Pool Operations certification within one (1) year of starting employment.By your start date, you will be required to complete a form declaring your Covid-19 vaccine status as a condition of employment.Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unaided and up to 75 pounds on occasion.Must be able to work on a lift at heights of up to 45 feet.Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.*Payroll title for this position is Facility Maintenance Worker - Local 60Stated salary is subject to a 2% pay raise effective the pay period of December 25, 2022
