Part-Time AfterCare Preschool Group leader
Job description
The Ashford Rise Preschool After-school Group leader is responsible for the supervision and well-being of a group of assigned children ages 6 months to 6 years after school. The Rise School of Dallas at the Moody YMCA is a school for children with and without disabilities(such as Down syndrome). Hours will be Monday-Friday 2 pm-5:30 pm when The Rise School is in session. No weekends.
Candidates Requirements:
One year or more of experience working with children,
A high school diploma/equivalent
18 years or older
Group leaders will follow an afterschool curriculum put in place by the Director and Afterschool coordinator that follows Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) Minimum Standards. They will also be required to pass a TDFPS Background Check.
This position will do the following daily:
- Support the Coordinator as he/she operates the aftercare program, following TDFPS standards & YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas policies, procedures, and Operational Promises.
- Actively engage in activities with participants including physical activity and enrichment activity
- Supervise his/her group of aftercare participants at the site, and maintain the health and well-being of all children enrolled.
- Help maintain and inventory supplies needed for the program.
- Under the direction of the Coordinator, will report any staff or child accident/incidents or suspected child abuse injury to Program Director as soon as possible. Will fill out an appropriate report, make necessary phone calls, and follow all emergency procedures.
- Function as a team maintaining a professional attitude and loyalty to Rise at all times;
- Interact appropriately with professionals and families;
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings, training, and any other meetings deemed necessary by the Aftercare Coordinator or Program Director.
- Assist with program set-up and clean-up, so they are done correctly, and neatly and meet school contracted guidelines.
- Assist with drills to practice site-evacuation/emergency procedures for fire, chemical spill, tornado, etc., and is capable of implementing such procedures.
- Function as a team maintaining a professional attitude at all times;
- Participate in in-service and attending conferences;
- Complete all other site-specific responsibilities determined and coordinated by Program Director and Aftercare Coordinator
