Conditions of Employment
- I affirm that I have read and will abide by the policies set forth in the First Presbyterian Church Day School Employee Handbook. I also agree to abide by any additions, changes, or deletions made to school policies at the sole discretion of the Directors without prior notice during this contract year.
- I agree that my assignment to room, curriculum, and extracurricular duties is to be made at the discretion of the Director’s. I agree to maintain a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Further, I understand that for the duration of absence it is my responsibility to provide instruction that follows set curriculum.
- I agree to understand, accept, respect, and serve pupils entrusted to me and provide spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional development to the best of my ability. I agree to observe appropriate confidentiality in regards to pupil, parent, and staff matters.
- I agree to attend and be on time for all staff meetings when scheduled. I agree to be present for such meetings and conferences as may be called by Directors, including trainings.
- I understand to meet SC DSS regulations that all staff are required to obtain 15 hours of training, yearly. Further, I understand the 15 hours are required to maintain employment and staff will not receive additional hourly pay to complete required hours.
- I agree that any previous agreements, whether written or oral, are fully merged into this agreement and that no other agreement, statement, or promise other than those contained in this contract shall be valid or binding on either party.
- The staff member understands that the following benefits are available: Paid Time Off- is granted to full time employees (30 weekly hours or more). PTO is disbursed in a lump amount on August 1 of every year. New hires will not be permitted access to PTO until after the (60) day probationary period. PTO cannot be carried over from year to year and may not be transferred to any other form of leave. PTO may be requested one month in advance by completing a Request for Time Off form. Once a request is made, it is at the Director’s discretion if the request is granted. PTO requests will not be granted for more than three staff at the same time. PTO will not be granted if two staff from the same room have requested off. PTO will be used for all requested days off.
- Holidays Observed- All staff will receive the following holidays off: 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday following Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, December 26th, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, and Memorial Day. Full time staff are eligible to receive holiday pay. Full time summer staff are eligible to receive holiday pay for 4thof July.
- I understand that First Presbyterian Church Day School has their own calendar independent of other organizations. Further, we do not follow District 5 holiday schedule, professional development days, e-learning, or other unscheduled closings. However, we will follow District 5 guidelines and procedures for inclement weather.
- I agree to give a two-week prior written notice of intended resignation unless a different termination date is mutually agreed upon. I understand that payment shall be made of that proportionate part of the salary which the number of days of actual duty bears to the number of days covered by the contract for staff that resign or are terminated. I understand that all accrued wages will be paid to employee.
- I understand that employment with First Presbyterian Day School is on an “at will” basis and may be terminated with or without cause or notice.
- I agree that if there are deficiencies in my job or personal performances, the Directors, at their sole discretion, may determine that certain acts, deficiencies, or situations are so grave that they may result in immediate dismissal.
- I understand that my employment is contingent on maintaining the following records: Medical record completed by the staff person verifying whether his/her health is satisfactory. Health assessment completed by a health care provider assessing the ability of the staff person to work with children. Health Assessment must be completed within one month of employment and should include health history, physical exam, vision and hearing screening, tuberculosis screening, and a review of immunization status. Further, I understand to maintain employment a new health assessment must be obtained every four years after initial assessment.
- First Presbyterian Church Day School has been classified as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit church- related organization and has chosen not to participate in the Federal Unemployment Tax Act. Therefore, upon termination of employment, regardless of the reason(s), I understand that unemployment benefits are not available.
- I agree that is any provision of this agreement is declared invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, its invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect any other provision of this agreement.
