JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) at University Park is seeking two part-time health educators to provide individual services for students with alcohol or marijuana policy/law violations or alcohol overdoses. This part-time position will report directly to the Assistant Director for alcohol and cannabis education services.
Primary responsibilities include providing brief alcohol and cannabis interventions with college students. Additional responsibilities may include conducting educational programming for student groups about substance use and overall wellness. Student groups may include fraternities, sororities, and academic classes. The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards for evidence-based practice set by relevant professional organizations as well as state and federal agencies.
Typical Education and Experience Requirements :
- Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduate students in Counselor Education, Biobehavioral Health, Higher Education, Human Development and Family Studies, or related fields will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of and experience conducting brief health-based interventions and motivational interviewing is preferred.
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification or a professional counseling credential is preferred, but not required.
- A commitment to working with diverse populations is essential. Outstanding interpersonal communication and dynamic leadership abilities are essential.
