PART-TIME MEDICAL ADVOCATE

The Sexual Assault Counseling and Information Service (SACIS) is hiring a Medical Advocate.
NOTE: The new staff member will be required to undergo a forty-hour training program to meet the requirements to be covered by confidentiality related to the provision of services for sexual assault victims. Any applicants who have already completed the SACIS Volunteer Training Program have already completed this requirement.
POSITION DETAILS: This position is $27.75 per on-call shift paid at the end of every month. The position also pays $12.00 per hour that you are called out to the hospital, paid the following month on the 15th. This rate also applies to other physically worked hours, such as training and meetings.

BENEFITS: There are no benefits with this position.
OFFICE LOCATION: The SACIS office is located at 825 18th Street, Suite 409, Charleston IL 61920

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The medical advocate must be available to respond to all medical calls to the Emergency Department at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System during the assigned shifts.
• The advocate must be able to respond to the Emergency Department within 45 minutes (maximum).
• Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy to sexual assault survivors and their significant others.
• Attend monthly advocate meetings at the SACIS office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• 1 year of experience in crisis response prefered
