The Patient Coordinator II works in the Spine Center and represents New England Baptist Hospital as the first point of contact for many patients. This individual is responsible for, but not limited to MD administrative support, scheduling, pre-registration, insurance authorization, obtaining referrals and helping to insure overall efficiency in the department. This individual reports to the Practice Manager – Spine Center.

Responsible for scheduling and pre-registration of outpatient appointments for Spine Center and affiliated departments according to scheduling protocol. Enters all patient demographic information in the HIS system prior to scheduling the appointment.
Assisting physicians with administrative tasks as necessary.
Viewing/printing/scanning/distributing all incoming faxes timely and appropriately.
Collects and distributes the mail in a timely fashion.
Work cooperatively with fellow employees to solve problems and help make the department function smoothly and efficiently.
Strive to maintain an attitude of professionalism, service-orientation and courtesy toward patients, physicians and all outside agencies in the commitment to providing exceptional care.
Provides staffing coverage for scheduling, registration, and medical assistant functions in the Spine Center as applicable. Performs other functions as needed, including various modes of communication and responding to patient, physician office, and insurance companies or their designated authorization clearance enterprises. Follows HIPAA guidelines while maintaining confidentiality of all protected health information
Participates in the partially outsourced prior authorization process for any upcoming procedures or office visits requiring an authorization.
Communicates clearly and appropriately with patients, while demonstrating respect, courtesy, and sensitivity. Complies with hospital and department Standards of Excellence for patient satisfaction are upheld. Assists with helping to solve complex scheduling issues and assist with helping to address patient complaints or grievances to ensure patient satisfaction.
