Salary Range: $47.8400 - $74.1000 /hour
The Patient Educator (RN) provides individualized nursing education to patients and families using an evidenced-based, multi-disciplinary approach.
- This role ensures the patient has the knowledge to care for his/her condition and is educated and empowered to participate in the plan of care.
- Serves as a liaison among clinical service staff, physicians, education departments, and patients.
- Provides health assessments, plans and reassesses as well as makes appropriate referrals for outside services/continued care.
- Participates in data collection and analysis of clinical outcomes.
- Assists with the education of clinical professionals.
- Keeps current in best practices by attending conferences, educational programs, and continuing education classes.
- Functions both in inpatient and outpatient environments.
- May develop education programs and facilitate educational classes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Required : 2 or more years of clinical nursing experience.
Additional requirements for specific departments are as follows:
- OB Education: Childbirth Educator experience preferred.
License Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California - Current and in good standing.
Certifications Required
- BLS
Additional requirements for specific departments are as follows:
- OB Education: Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is required within one year of hire.
