JOB SUMMARY

** This position requires knowledge of medical terminology, office experience and flexible hours ***

This position is responsible for coordinating and completing the registration process for all patients, directing patient admissions to the appropriate areas, obtaining proper consents for treatment and financial responsibility, and collecting information for proper coding and billing of accounts. This position requires that accurate demographic and insurance data along with other key data element be data entered in the computer system. This position requires highest degree of confidentiality, and requires ability to work with initiative and decision making skills.

  • Responsible to Rehabilitative Services Satellite Supervisor or Director.
  • Initiate and receive telephone contact with new and current patients.
  • Initial scheduling and ongoing scheduling of patients
  • Pre-registration and registration of patients.
  • Obtain insurance authorization, as required
  • Verify medical necessity, as required Data entry of daily charges and/or productivity database
  • Verify patient's insurance benefits
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as necessary.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry supplies, clean and dirty laundry bags, general cleaning of department, and assist therapists with patient care as appropriate.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • A.S degree preferred

Experience

  • One to three years customer service, preferably in a medical setting required

Skills Required

  • strong verbal and decision making skills
  • Computer experience/exposure to Windows environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • must be able to work independently within assigned guidelines.
  • Requires ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
