Job description
As our Payroll Global Process Owner (GPO), you’ll be responsible for developing and executing the governance structure, ensuring standardization, and identifying areas for improvement of payroll accounting processes. This role directly supports the Payroll processes for the Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions (VWTS) business, a global organization with locations in the US, Europe, the Far East and Australia. The US VWTS business is based out of Trevose, PA but location can be flexible in the eastern US and Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as subject matter expert for the global payroll finance processes, including providing strategic direction for the former GE entities
- Lead the transformation of an existing decentralized local payroll model into a centralized global payroll model from a finance perspective. This will involve working extensively with local and in-country Payroll and HR functions
- Deliver and maintain a payroll transformation roadmap supporting the payroll strategy and transformation activities
- Stay current on payroll industry leading practices to inform strategic direction and process improvement
- Collaborate with key stakeholders on all transformation initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement and quality. Work closely with our BPO provider (Accenture) in Chennai, India.
- Demonstrate good business acumen and excellent financial judgement in supporting the business by developing prioritization of payroll projects, transformation, and improvement opportunities
Core Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or equivalent, or MBA (or equivalent)
- 10+ years Payroll Finance experience
- Advanced Excel skills and good fluency with other tech products
- Experience and technical knowledge in a wide range of finance-related areas, including financial planning, analysis and reporting
- Passion for environmental stewardship!
Other Useful Skills & Abilities:
- You should be a team player with good analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- FP&A/ project finance experience is a big plus
- Experience with SAP ERP system is helpful
- Exercise good decision-making skills – able to make decisions in ambiguous situations under tight reporting deadlines
- Flexibility – be prepared to assess current processes and recommend changes/improvements, as well as responding decisively to changes imposed by changing legislation, HQ demands etc
- Experience in working in different cultures and environments, in a matrixed organization
