POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring that all employees are paid in an accurate and timely fashion. Coordinates with other office personnel, as well as accounting and human resources personnel. Responsibilities include ensuring organizational compliance with federal and local regulations, auditing, and non-discrimination laws. Prepare payroll related reports Record, maintain and update payroll procedures. Maintain employee records for new hires, pay changes, and terminations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Updates payroll records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, insurance changes, deductions, paid-time not worked, status, and pay; calculating vacation earned.

2. Prepares payroll by verifying time records; calculating and producing checks or electronic transfers; calculating and producing quarterly incentive bonuses.

3. Balances payroll accounts by auditing information; identifying and resolving discrepancies; initiating journal entries.

4. Determines payroll liabilities by entering federal and state income and social security tax information, 403b transfer and direct deposits, wage assignments and garnishments.

5. Fulfills wage garnishment requirements by completing forms; adjusting payroll records; documenting and transmitting withholdings; negotiating with collection agencies to convert garnishments to wage assignments.

6. Provides payroll information by answering associate questions and requests.

7. Coordinates payroll tax payments by collecting and verifying data; preparing federal, state, and local tax reports, and W2 statements; initiating payment.

8. Recording monthly payroll invoices into accounting systems.

9. Create Ad-hoc reports as needed.

10. Understands the legal reporting requirements of state and local offices to meet auditing and fiscal requirements set forth by law.

11. Understands the tenants of quality and maintains strict control over the processes and procedures developed, maintained, and used by the organization.

12. Performs other job duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university. Extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of graduate level education.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

EXPERIENCE

Two or more years full cycle payroll processing required. One or more years of accounting and accounts payable experience preferred. Two or more years’ current experience in spreadsheet and database software preferred.

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

Knowledge of accounting theories and practices. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work well with people on all levels. Ability to travel within the Center's service area or to other locations as needed. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous skill development to competently serve individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,400.00 - $66,800.00 per year
