SCOPE:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for all payroll related functions for the Christensen Company as well as data associated with employee records. Working closely with members of management, employees from all levels of the organization, and others within the Human Resources department, the Payroll Specialist will ensure employees are compensated according to their agreed upon payment structure. The Payroll Specialist reports to the Human Resources Manager and works closely with the Regional HR Generalists.

SIGNIFICANT ANCTIVITIES & DELIVERABLES

  • Record employee payroll information, such as exemptions, transfers, status changes, and resignations to maintain and update payroll records
  • Ensure employment related documents, such as workers compensation and unemployment, are received by the appropriate parties and/or processed timely
  • Conduct verifications of employment in accordance with company policy
  • Manage paid time off for all employees, including the input and payment of PTO
  • Provide custom reports to management and employees upon request
  • Conduct any trainings or provide training documentation that may be necessary to ensure employees are accessing and utilizing Paycom
  • Process paper checks in their entirety, from calculation to GL balance
  • Provide GL reports from interface for approval prior to uploading
  • Provide after payroll documentation and information to various intercompany departments as necessary or requested
  • Receive and review for accuracy all employee termination reports, requesting additional information when necessary
  • Receive and process all non-continuous payroll deductions such as 401(k) loans, liens and garnishments, child support, etc.
  • Process employee terminations within payroll system
  • Ensure 401(k) and payroll batches are processed and provided to the appropriate vendor
  • Produce the necessary documents to ensure the proper filing of federal and state taxes
  • Process employment leaves in the payroll system, monitor leave status, and process all benefit deductions that would otherwise be taken as payroll deductions
  • Act as backup for Human Resource Generalist
  • Other projects, as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of Payroll experience with 500+ employees
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Paycom preferred
  • Accounting or Business-related degree preferred
  • Work well under pressure and meet hard month, quarter, and yearend deadlines
  • Highly organized with outstanding communication skills
