DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The HR-Shared Services Organization provides HR, Payroll and Finance support for approximately 13,000 staff, student, and academic employees, in 11 campus divisions, covered by UC Policy or one of 16 Collective Bargaining Units.


JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the People Services Manager, the People Services Operations Supervisor will lead a team of HR/Payroll professionals, with the goal of delivering exceptional and consistent customer service experience. The incumbent is responsible for leadership, coaching, oversight, accountability, training and development of an integrated team who performs a variety of HR and Payroll duties.

The incumbent will focus on continuous improvement in collaboration with other HR-SSO People Services Operations supervisors and will draw insights from analytics to ensure accuracy and compliance, efficient workflow processes in a high volume and fast-paced service center. The incumbent will influence decisions and bring a data-driven approach to service delivery by the team in support of the university’s organizational excellence efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Experience in a supervisory or managerial role providing leadership to recruit, train, evaluate, mentor, coach, motivate and performance manage staff.
  • Progressive/increased responsibility and experience managing a personnel transactions unit in a shared services or similar high volume fast paced, large, complex organization.
  • Experience working with human resources and payroll practices, policies, operational procedures and deadlines to interpret and apply Federal State and University employment laws, regulations, and policies governing business activities, confidentiality of records and information and use of technology.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and executing new processes and procedures, analyzing workflow and designing efficient business processes.
  • Experience with web-based and integrated/automated recruitment, HRIS, payroll and time and attendance systems, spreadsheet, word processing, email, and database and presentation software applications.
  • Experience in the principles and practices of business management and effective leadership to ethically manage and oversee operational resources. Specifically, experience with measurement, metrics, and/or KPIs to drive continuous improvement within operation.

Preferred:

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Experience working and/or supervising in a remote environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations or Human Resources Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
  • Skills with UCD/UC proprietary systems, AggieService, UCPath, Handshake, ScheduleOnce, Pipefy and COGNOS Reporting.
  • Knowledge of UC and UC Davis personnel policy, procedures, practices and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Analytical skills to continue to acquire and enhance working knowledge of employment practices, procedures and law, in a HEERA collective bargaining environment.
  • Skills to quickly learn and use a variety of CRM, HRIS, Time & Attendance personnel information systems.
