The Opportunity - Payroll Tax Specialist (Remote - USA)

We are looking for a highly experienced Payroll Tax professional to be part of our growing operations team. You'll be reporting to the Senior Director of Payroll Tax & Operations. In this role, you will be reconciling tax liabilities, auditing between our Mastertax account, payroll system, and bank accounts. You'll also be responsible for reconciling, creating and filing tax returns, reconciling and making tax deposits and tax notice resolution.

What you'll Do:

• Hands on understanding of the use of the Mastertax PTS and RTS files to including troubleshooting and resolving file and reconciliation issues
• Take ownership of the day-to-day reconciliation of tax liabilities which can be manual at times
• Manual creation of excel reports to reconcile wages and liabilities
• Take ownership of the filing of quarterly and year end payroll tax returns
• Assist with the creation and filing of amended returns as needed
• Proven track record of manual intervention in Mastertax as needed
• Make accurate and timely tax deposits pursuant to federal and state deposit rules
• Responsible for troubleshooting and resolution of payroll tax notices
• Assist team with tax laws, regulation and best practices
• Perform ongoing audits between payroll and tax systems
• Maintain high level of expert knowledge of payroll tax laws to ensure jurisdictional compliance
• Work closely with the Customer Support and Payroll Operations team to resolve client needs
• Work closely with internal teams such as Product, Engineering and Legal to resolve tax and compliance issues betwen our payroll system and Mastertax
• Communicate with product and engineering on jurisdictional changes and their impact to the payroll system and our customers
• Perform other duties as assigned to help a growing and busy Payroll and Tax teams

We think you'll be an amazing fit for this position if your application can demonstrate:

• 3-5 years experience in US payroll tax administration using Mastertax
• Canadian payroll tax experience is a plus
• Payroll processing and tax administration with hands on knowledge of reconciling tax returns (manually if needed)
• Working knowledge of how reversed payrolls impact tax liability and tax returns
• Flexibility regarding peak payroll tax season work requirements is a must
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong data analytics skills to include the creation of formulas, pivot tables & vlookups and the use of sorting & filtering,
• Ability to work with tight deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Google suite
