Title: Recovery Coach/Peer Advocate

Location: 175 Remsen Street, 9th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201

Job Summary:

This grant funded position is under the SOR II New York State Regional Opioid Grant. The Recovery Coach will provide peer support services to individuals seeking treatment for opioid or stimulant use/disorder. The Recovery Coach will partner with participants to guide and support successful change by developing problem solving strategies and self-advocacy skills. The Recovery Coach offers clients a living example of recovery and successful community reintegration. Working in partnership with other stakeholders within the regional consortium on the SOR II Opioid Grant. The Recovery Coach will assist participants to access services and resources in the community and develop support networks with the goal of building independent lives. In addition, the Recovery Coach will be responsible for conducting community visits and outreach, assisting with the transition to each new phase of treatment to promote recovery.

Specific Duties:

  • Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to all project participants
  • Model recovery principles and decision-making skills; assist participants to identify strengths and help them take the lead in their recovery process
  • Participate in the development of recovery/wellness plans with assigned clients
  • Escort participants to off-site appointments; assist in the navigation of health care and benefits systems; provide any additional support requested by the treatment team
  • Conduct community visits and outreach
  • Discuss all concerns with the interdisciplinary team to inform interventions and treatment planning
  • Facilitate on-site nonclinical programs tailored to the interest of clients (support groups, educational groups, art therapy, book clubs, etc.)
  • Maintain progress notes for each client and review with supervisor on a weekly basis

Certification:

CPRA or CPRA-P preferred

Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal skills, enthusiastic about recovery
  • Ability to deliver services to a diverse client population in an urban setting
  • Availability to work part time, Monday through Friday (17 hours per week)

Education:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
