Maxim Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Health and Fitness Specialist to participate inscreening individuals' medical histories and current healthstatus to identifymajor health risk factors; administer fitness testingprocedures and counsel individualsregarding test results anduse of exercise equipment andassist with fitness-related educational programs.They perform a wide variety tests and assist withplanning and implementing individualand group fitness programs.
Responsibilities:
- Participate inscreening individuals' medical historiesand current Health status toidentify major health risk factors
- Administerfitness testing procedures and counsel individuals regarding test resultsand use of exerciseequipment
- Assist withfitness-related educationall programs.
- Populationusually low risk, even thoughrisk factors exist.
- Entry levelwork with medicalprograms
- Plan,coordinate and implementthe development of exercise and related programs for a varietyof special populations and clinical programs.
- Perform a wide variety of fitness assessments and/or non-invasive cardiopulmonary tests accordingto work site.
- Responsible for developing safe exercise prescriptions, goal settingandexercise progression for low,medium and high-riskpatients.
- Ableto teach variety of land and waterbased group exercise for low, medium andhigh risk clients as required by work site.
- Performs other dutiesas assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degreein Exercise Science;Physiology or related field preferred
- One (1) year of experiencein health and fitnesspreferred
- CurrentBLS card, if requiredbystate regulations or contractspecifications
- Currentphysical exam, ifrequired by state regulations or contract specifications
- CurrentTB test or chest x-ray, ifrequired by state regulations or contract specifications
- Abilitytoeffectively elicit/provideinformation to and from appropriate individuals(including, butnot limitedto,supervisors, co-workers, clients)via strong communication skills;proficiency intheEnglish language may be required
- Computerproficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- PERSONAL TRAINING LICENSE REQUIRED
