Role Summary

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing/compounding medications given in our infusion center under the supervision of the clinic physician. This position is a critical part of providing patients with safe, efficient therapies during their cancer treatment journey. This role will report to OCP’s Vice President of Operations while working closely as a member of OCP’s provider care team.

Responsibilities

• Practices as a pharmacy technician in accordance with all federal and state and Board of Pharmacy regulations and standards
• Follows proper procedures to accurately prepare and dispense medications; predominately hazardous drugs used to treat cancer, including research protocols
• Prepares labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals
• Ensures timely delivery of medication orders and/or supplies to treatment teams
• Maintains accurate pharmaceutical inventories and procurement of medications including sorting, stocking, rotation of stock, and expiring medication checks
• Performs and documents quality control steps as required for safety and regulatory requirements
• Performs cleaning of sterile and non-sterile areas of the pharmacy as assigned
• Maintains and supports automated dispensing cabinets
• Communicates and escalates issues or problems in a timely manner
• Act as a positive, collaborative team player by being flexible to achieve the mission of Oncology Care Partners

Key Competencies

• Comfortable following written and verbal instructions
• Able to accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations
• Proficiency of aseptic technique and the compounding of sterile products
• Proficiency and mastery of compounding non-sterile products
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and assist in resolution
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Comfort using technology, including inventory and supply management systems
• Openness to stepping in and helping other teams/ functional areas when needed

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Current registration with the Board of Pharmacy where required by state regulation
• National Pharmacy Technician certification required within 12 months of hire
• Oncology experience strongly preferred
• Fluency in Spanish preferred
• US work authorization
