The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists and providers with medication-related functions, reporting and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Remain knowledgeable of and continually review medication brand and generic names, medical terminology, and pharmaceutical calculations.
• Medication adherence outreach, auditing, documenting, and reporting as it pertains to STAR measures.
• Assist in day-to-day tasks as needed and requested by lead pharmacist
• Responsible for interacting with other departments to assist with member problems or questions and act as facilitator to resolve them
• Attend scheduled team meetings and provide relevant feedback regarding workflow issues
• Assist clinical pharmacist in troubleshooting prescription third party claim rejections by accessing and understanding formulary restrictions, plan limitations, drug utilization review overrides, requesting and completing prior authorization, and/or communicating with plan representatives and/or prescribers to resolve such issues.
• Assist pharmacist with medication therapy management scheduling, pre-appointment preparation, follow up tasks, and home/facility visits to patients for medication reconciliation/education
• Process select medication list updates/medication reconciliation requests as requested by the clinical pharmacist, including but not limited to adding or deleting medications, changing medication doses or other prescription details as indicated from the most recent medication list/prescriptions in preparation for final check by provider or pharmacist, printing medication lists and after-visit summaries for patients and other responsible parties etc.
• Medication assistance programs for patients in need of financial assistance for copays or when in donut hole.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
• Three or more years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Pharmacy Benefit Management experience preferred
• Current North Carolina State Pharmacy Technician Certification and License required
• National Certification a plus
• Experience and/or ability to work with electronic health record system

Base Salary/ Wage Range $18.00 to $21.00/hour plus annual bonus. Compensation for the role is commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
