Pioneer Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital, essentially the county hospital for Sweet Grass County, Montana: Population 3700. We are in a beautiful valley along the Yellowstone River, between three mountain ranges, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We serve our neighbors (ranchers, skilled trades people and active retirees) and the many tourists who come here on their way to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, or to fish the Yellowstone, hike, bike, hunt or just get away from overcrowded places. Big Timber is a vibrant and welcoming small town, an hour from Bozeman and Billings. Our schools are highly rated, with high community support.

Pioneer Medical Center has an immediate opening for a full-time Physical Therapist to join our hospital & therapy clinics' patient care team.

Physical Therapist Job Description

To provide direct patient care and support activities, which build and maintain a rehab center of

excellence. Provides patient care under the direction of a licensed physical therapist. Completes documentation according to established procedures. Is involved in support duties as assigned. Contributes to professional development of self and others. Enhances disciplinary team through professional skills and knowledge. Aids in building and maintaining a reputation for excellence in the department by contributing as a professional member of the staff. Demonstrates safe working practices.

1. Regulatory standards.

2. PMC policies and procedures.

3. Interpersonal skills necessary to instruct patients/residents and maintain effective contacts with a variety of health care providers.

4. Confidentiality requirements.

5. Resident’s rights.

SKILL IN:

1. Planning and organization.

2. Providing instructions.

3. Effective time management.

4. Attention to detail.

5. Analytical skills necessary to implement effective plan of resident/patient rehabilitation.

6. Being able to think quickly and respond appropriately in an emergency.

ABILITY TO:

1. Incorporate cultural and age-appropriate care into all aspects of communication and patient care.

2. Utilize time management concepts to make efficient use of time.

3. Provide instructions in a clear and easily understood manner.

4. Work independently.

5. Work effectively with nursing and medical personnel.

6. Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbal and written.

7. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships.

8. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

9. Frequently stand, sit, lift, bend, push, and move intermittently during workday.

10. Lift 50 pounds and assist with lifting and transporting of residents.

11. React professionally when dealing with difficult or emergency situations.

COMPLEXITY & DIFFICULTY:

1. Professional behavior when dealing with difficult situations with co-workers and patients/residents.

2. Resourcefulness in dealing with emergency situations.

3. Practices within the scope of practice of PTA licensure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Associate Degree in Applied Science: Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

2. In good standing with current state licensing board.

3. Driver’s License in good standing in State of Montana.

4. Minimum of two (2) years of experience with patient care.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal patient care environment in a long-term care, acute care, clinic setting. Physical demands that include, but may not be limited to, patient care duties that may involve lifting, bending, transferring patients of up to 400 pounds with the assistance of the care team or by using appropriate patient care equipment such as a Hoyer lift. Working environment with moderate noise level and possible regular physical, mental and emotional stress due to patient care situations and activities.
