Physician

Under the general direction of the Medical Director, the Physician shall assess and provide medical services to patients and supervise the work and performance of midlevel provider such as physician assistants and family nurse practitioners. Physician shall also work with the Medical Office Manager to ensure that all clinic operations are perform in accordance to the Health Center policies and procedures. Physician shall also assist in providing clinic rotation to student preceptors from affiliated university and colleges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Physician shall skillfully perform and document those duties customarily performed by physicians practicing family and general practice, which shall include, but not be limited to the provision of the following services:

  • Perform physical examinations of new and existing patients
  • Assess, plan, and provide patient care including administering and prescribing medication
  • Diagnose and treat diseases, disorders, and injuries of patients
  • Prepare and review case histories and obtaining patient data through interviews and scheduled visits
  • Supervise of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and other individuals who participate in the care of patients or the rendering of services to patients for the purpose of providing high quality patient care, in compliance with applicable law, including requirements relating to the execution of Delegation of Services Agreements and the establishment of protocols.
  • Provide patients education and instructions
  • Assist with policy development and protocols for patient care
  • Provide follow-up care as appropriate
  • Complete patient charts in accordance with Health Center policies including patient referrals and lab orders
  • Direct clinical support staff in procedures relative to preoperative and postoperative care, as appropriate.
  • Supervise and instruct student residents and preceptors in primary care and procedures
  • Anticipate clinical issues, participate in all quality assurance efforts, acting as physician liaison to third party payer plans and programs having agreements with Health Center
  • Adhere to contract terms of various managed care services and health programs
  • Act in compliance with Medicare requirement of seeing 22 patients per day
  • Maintain appropriate, legible, and timely written patient records, which shall always be suitable for use by successor physicians, and strict adherence to Health Center’s policies regarding the custody of patient charts.
  • Complete properly and accurately third-party information requests.
  • Foster the development of managerial skills by individuals who participate in the care of patients or the rendering of services to patients
  • Participate in professional education programs which will maintain and advance professional and staff patient-care skills and programs which will educate patients and their families
  • Participate in activities directed towards improving the professional care rendered by Physician and Health Center, including such peer and utilization review and other programs as Health Center shall designate from time to time during the term of this Agreement
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the provision of services for the underserved and sensitivity working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural origins
  • At all times you will perform and undertake such other duties and responsibilities as are requested by Chief of Operations, Chief Executive Office and/or Medical Director

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Currently licensed to practice medicine in the State of California.
  • Must have current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number.
  • Two plus years related experience preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Current First Aid and/or CPR, BCLS, ACLS and PALS Certification, as appropriate.
  • COVID-19 Vaccinated

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $220,000.00 - $260,000.00 per year
