Uvalde Medical and Surgical Associates, operated by Uvalde Memorial Hospital, is a specialty physician practice with providers to cover a wide spectrum of patient care needs. UMSA is home to four full time physicians and three full time mid-level providers, with clinics specializing in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Primary Care, and Family Medicine. We are seeking an experienced practice manager to oversee the management and operation of these clinics.

SUMMARY

Plans, directs, and supervises operations of Uvalde Medical and Surgical Associates, including all management duties pertaining to budget, compliance, quality, employees, and staffing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Monitors patient scheduling, referrals, billing and collections of physician practices.

Responsible for safety and comfort of patients, and the health and safety of staff.

Resolves patient complaints.

Coordinates and directs patient accounting functions in order to consistently produce accurate bills which are paid in a timely manner.

Maintains a current awareness of third-party reimbursement regulations and contractual arrangements with PPOs.

Prepares analysis review reports of monthly statements, all special financial studies, reports, etc., as requested or deemed necessary and provide to UMH administration and/or UMSA Board.

Works with governing Board to design and implement marketing strategic plan.

Coordinates advertising plan for multiple practices.

Works as a liaison between accountants, pension practice attorney and shareholders.

Handles and recommends all office corporate insurance coverage.

Reconciles clinic bank accounts.

Responsible for credentialing of physicians with managed care insurance companies.

Performs contract negotiation with payors and performs detailed analysis on reimbursement activities.

Works with Managed Care company or designee in site visits/chart audits.

Review and supervise internal systems for handling cash, recording mail receipts, writing checks, etc.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years management/supervisory experience in healthcare management required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third party payers.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service required.
  • Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).

Functional Job Requirements:

Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.

Lifting Requirements

Job requires light lifting on an occasional basis.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $59,245.00 - $64,870.00 per year
