Pipeline Operator
PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF), one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are a growing organization seeking a talented Pipeline Terminal Operator to join our team as a pivotal member here at PBF Energy. This role is located at Torrance Logistics Company in Torrance, CA.
The Pipeline Terminal Operator facilitates the safe, reliable, efficient and accurately measured transportation of products and crudes into and out of the Torrance Refinery and Third Party facilities for Torrance Valley, Torrance Basin and Torrance Pipeline Companies.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for quality and quantity of petroleum product movements in and out of the Torrance Refinery. Uses API and ASTM methods and techniques to accurately assess and quantify crude oil and/or refined products. Is responsible for custody transfer activities with connecting carriers and customers.
  • Proper valve and system alignments
  • Responsible for Quality Assurance sampling and testing of products in accordance with ASTM.
  • Responsible for accurate measurement of product and crude oil according to procedures and/or API standards.
  • Proving and witnessing custody transfer meters
  • Perform other pipeline related tasks or projects as deemed necessary for the operation.
  • Security - Inspects perimeter fencing, locks, etc. to maintain proper facility, pipeline, and ROW security and addresses and reports any infractions.
  • Routine inspections to meet regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory standards for employee health, safety and environmental requirements through the execution of all safety programs.
  • Must continuously develop and maintain acceptable safe work practices and safe driving record.
  • Must maintain a valid California Driver’s License and Transportation Workers Identification Credential.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain after a reasonable period of time;
    • Pipeline system knowledge including third party connections, block valves and general line locations.
    • Understanding Normal and ability to react to Abnormal and Emergency operating conditions
    • Capable of initiating emergency response procedures.
    • API standards as they apply to custody transfer metering, tank gauging, sampling and calculation of crude oil and products.
    • ASTM as it applies to the testing of products and crude oils shipped in the pipeline systems
    • Code of Federal Regulation as administered by DOT part 195
    • Code of California Regulations (SCAQMD) as they apply to pipeline and truck operations within the area of operations.
    • Ability to calculate fluid flow, determine and perform batch scheduling, accounting and coordinate multiple operations on multiple pipeline systems.
    • Ability to read and comprehend technical and operational manuals, flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively within his/her job function and be able to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Possess the skill of being a self-starter and accept accountability for work ethic.
  • Must be organized and proficient in record keeping.
  • Must be willing to work during day or night hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Basic math and computer skills with emphasis in Excel, Word, and RAS-CPTse
  • Ability to identity equipment malfunctions and report/schedule through SAP-PM.
Ability to successfully complete Haz-Mat training, DOT operator qualifications, and computer based training modules.

The pay range for this position is from $25.33 up to $31.97.
