Job description

The Finish & Shipping position is responsible for finishing and testing the chassis or vehicle before final shipment to the customer for customer’s various product lines including, but not limited to, emergency response bodies and chassis, motorhome chassis, specialty vehicles, and Isuzu F Series.


Job Description

  • Complete final torque verification, fluid top-off, weatherproofing, etc.
  • Install missing or defective components, as needed
  • Assess and perform mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate
  • Eliminate any potential defects, based on write-ups and self-inspection
  • Assist with major reworks and projects
  • Maneuver units with a fork truck around the facility or onto trailers
  • Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area
  • Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required by a particular area
  • Self-check work and inspect prior processes
  • Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
  • Meet production goals
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Initiate process improvements
  • Support 5S in work area
  • Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
  • Work in proximity with customer, as needed
  • Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Excellent attendance
  • Positive attitude
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task
  • Team oriented
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Extensive knowledge of company’s products preferred
  • Strong understanding of cooling, power steering, suspension, air, and fuel systems
  • Able to:

o Accumulate tools and equipment required to perform assigned tasks

o Assess and repair mechanical issues appropriately

o Obtain and maintain a CDL, Class A or B, with air brake certification

o Obtain and maintain a fork truck license and crane operator permit

o Tolerate adverse weather conditions

o Work overtime on short notice

  • Willing to:

o Learn and rotate within all assembly areas

o Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)

o Develop a working knowledge of company’s systems (example: AS/400)

o Train coworkers
