Title: Soybean Meal & Oil Plant Process Operators
General Job Description: Bluegrass Farms of Ohio has an immediate opening on second shift (3:00pm -11:00pm) for a soybean extrusion (soy meal) and press (soy oil) process operator in our facility in Jeffersonville, OH.
This position is responsible for all aspects of soybean processing from feedstock storage to meal and oil unloading. Safely operates meal and oil production equipment, meeting the quality and productivity requirements that ensure on time supply of safe products to the customer.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs all work within safety and environmental guidelines (local, state, federal, company)
- Coordinate loading of beans, hulls/culls, meal, and oil with plant personnel
- Measure beans, hulls/culls, meal, and oil with accuracy to ensure proper inventory levels in hull, meal, and oil bins/storage
- Monitor all process equipment and parameters (temperatures, pressures, flows, levels), taking necessary steps and physical adjustments to meet desired operating parameters and product quality
- Notify plant manager/supervisor of operational or equipment issues
- Operate extrusion, pressing, milling, cooling, and conveyance/auger equipment
- Pumping, filtering, and degumming crude soy oil
- Conduct sampling (obtain, label, seal, store), quality analysis, and record resulting test data as established by company policy/procedure
- Safely start, operate, and shutdown all processing and ancillary equipment (augers, conveyors, pumps, compressors)
- Operate meal and oil loadout into customer hoppers/trucks in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on all equipment
- Perform general labor, housekeeping, and sanitation responsibilities to ensure SQF compliance
- Accurately maintains daily logs, instrument readings, records, and samples
- Train less experienced associates and cross-train to ensure a broader view of operations
- Performs other related tasks as may be assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (further education or training is preferred)
- Strong communication and analytical skills (diagnosis and troubleshooting)
- Basic math and computer skills, including human machine interface screens (HMIs)
- Ability to work alone or in a team environment
- Mechanical aptitude
- Attention to detail and safety
- Dependable and self-motivated
- Physical ability: bend, squat, climb, reach above shoulder level. Able to climb vertical heights (0-150’), carry tools and equipment (0-100 lbs), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-120°F), humidity (0-100%), noise (50-120 db), and dust
- Must be able to wear protective equipment to include hard hats, safety glasses, protective footwear, ear plugs, and other PPE as required (respirators)
