Job Summary


This position works in a collaborative work environment with skilled trades staff to maintain the building infrastructure of Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) – Oak Park Heights. In this position you will perform plumbing maintenance and repair work so that the facility plumbing fixtures and piping are kept in working order. Work includes:

  • The ordering of materials and the repair, install, and maintenance of kitchen equipment, bathroom fixtures, sterilization equipment, sprinkler systems, vents, traps, stacks, and overflow sewer pipes.
  • To repair, maintain and add to the hot and cold water systems and sewer systems.
  • To perform seasonal maintenance of plumbing/piping systems

This position works with a correctional facility and has some contact with incarcerated individuals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a Minnesota Journey-level Plumber License.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Facility or plant maintenance experience as a journey-level plumber.
  • Water operator's license.
  • At least two years of experience performing preventive maintenance work.
  • Experience in soldering, pro-press and techniques attaching old plumbing to modern plumbing.
  • Experience in welding, soldering, and machining.

Physical Requirements

The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required prior to hire for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening and/or respirator clearance. The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. For a copy of the PDA, please email Jessica Fenlon at jessica.fenlon@state.mn.us.

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
