Requirements:

ILEA preferred but not required. Applicants with military experience and college degrees are encouraged to apply. Non- certified applicants with military service and with two-year degree may be able to use GI Bill or Post 911 GI Bill to attend Community College Academy to avoid a service contract. Ability to relocate within 6 months of hire, commuting until move. Must be able to work evenings, overnights, weekends, overtime, and holidays (when required). Iowa Driver's License required. Candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills and be familiar with law enforcement practices. Successful completion of the police physical agility test, POST test, drug screen, MPPI, and background investigation.

Job Description:

Promote a safe and secure community, recruits, responsible for helping the Police Chief enforce local and state laws by patrolling an assigned area, responding to emergencies and investigating alleged criminal activity.

Responsibilities:

Conduct visual inspections of facilities, drive patrol cars, monitor and record the activities and conversations of subjects, write police reports, conduct foot and vehicle patrols in the community, cultivate informants and gather information about drug and criminal-related activities, arrest lawbreakers and transport them to the station for booking, assist with conducting STEP Waves, designing and performing community police projects, and enforcing city code ordinances.

Job Type:

Full-time, pay based on qualifications annual salary $48,000-$53,000.
