JOB DESCRIPTION

A Service Technician will perform routine maintenance, installations, diagnostics and repairs, as well as the sale of all equipment represented by the company within their scope of work. Fulfill customer needs and resolve issues through solution-oriented, innovative thinking, while upholding the company Mission Statement and contributing to the upward growth of the company.

Standard Duties

  • Field incoming phone calls on company-issued cell phone and monitor company-issued email account.
  • Clean and maintain aquatic vessels by skimming, vacuuming, and performing chemical treatments.
  • Install and maintain filter systems, automated control systems, chemical feed systems, sanitizing systems, chemical controllers, pumps, heaters, and any other associated equipment or materials.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair circulation systems, filter systems, automated control systems, chemical feed systems, sanitizing systems, chemical controllers, pumps, heaters, and any other associated equipment or materials.
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and/or install hydraulic systems; including but not limited to the drilling and tapping of pipe, and the solvent-welding of pipe and fittings.
  • Survey for the presence of bacteria, algae, or other contaminants.
  • Ensure correct color, chemistry, smell, and clarity of vessel water.
  • Test vessel water chemical levels for pH, chlorine, and overall saturation index.
  • Calculate and add/recommend chemical treatments to maintain proper saturation index, eliminate contaminants, or correct other problems.
  • Conduct equipment and/or system start-up, as well as customer training of equipment operation and chemical dosage.
  • Complete and maintain manual or automated paperwork outlining service performed, chemical usage, water quality, repairs, supplies, product sales, and any recommendations that will improve the overall performance of the facility.
  • Log and report any facility or vessel concerns, equipment faults, or water quality problems to both the customer, as well as the Service Department Manager.
  • Transport and deliver hazardous chemicals for aquatic vessel or facility use, as needed.
  • Responsible for the routine maintenance of Service Technician tools and equipment, ensuring they’re in proper working order. Report any needs to the Service Department Manager.
  • Clean and maintain Service Technician vehicle. Oversee vehicle inventory and communicate resource needs to the Service Department Manager.
  • Communicate site arrival times, departure times, and next destination to the Service Department Manager throughout the scheduled day.
  • Commute safely from job to job by adhering to the company driving policy.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules, including overnight hotel stays and possible overtime.
  • Troubleshoot incoming calls and needs over the phone—educate and guide customers to a solution, if feasible.
  • Ability to perform site visits and facility assessments—determining any current and potential future needs of the facility.
  • Available to lower-level technicians—offering support and guidance.
  • Contribute to the proactive creation and conservation of customer relationships and the pursuance of opportunities for the Service Department.
  • Provide backup support to the Construction Department, as needed.
  • Committed to upholding the core values and mission statement of the company.
  • Contribute to the warehouse and shipping/receiving department via forklift operation.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Complete all job functions with little-to-no direct supervision.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and self-manage on a daily basis.
  • Ability to listen and identify/resolve issues.
  • Thorough understanding of customer service standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of repairs, automation, equipment, and hydraulic systems related to the aquatic industry and its vessels.
  • Understanding of the operation and use of power tools and electronic equipment.
  • Math skills to calculate chemical additives and ratios.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, or related software as needed, to maintain logs and records.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Service Technician and/or Aquatic Industry experience required.
  • CRM software experience preferred.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at a time.
  • Must have adequate sight and hearing to properly interpret water analysis, equipment readings, and complete recordkeeping.
  • Physically able to perform all aspects of cleaning, checking, and monitoring vessels and facilities.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License and be insurable. Must maintain a good driving record throughout employment.

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
