Summary:
Neuberger Berman seeks a Portfolio Specialist to join the Institutional Equity and Multi Asset Team. In addition to working with NB’s broader equity and multi-asset platform in a generalist capacity, this role would also have a specific focus on the Risk Balanced investment team which manages $1.5B across commodity and risk parity strategies.
The Institutional Equity and Multi-Asset team is responsible for the growth and expansion of the firm’s investment capabilities in these asset classes, which is a $100B business comprised of 20 investment teams across all styles of equity investment (active, fundamental, quantitative, long only, long/short, pre-IPO to public) as well as alternative and multi-asset class capabilities such as options putwriting, commodities, and multi-asset portfolios.
The Portfolio Specialist will play a key cross-functional role in support of the entirety of this business, including furthering the team’s progress toward long-term strategic business development goals. In addition, the Portfolio Specialist will be responsible for supporting sales and marketing efforts for the Risk Balanced team across all facets of business development, including the development of marketing presentations, marketing materials, opportunity/pipeline reporting, investment analytics, and overall client support.
The role requires a close partnership with functions across the entirety of the NB organization, including front-office, investment teams, sales, marketing, technology, operations, risk, legal, compliance, and senior management professionals across all of these areas. A successful candidate for a position on this team will have a broad-based skill set with particular strengths in communication, presentation/content development, and investment strategy knowledge.
Responsibilities:

Work with Equity business leadership as well as directly with portfolio management teams play a key role in business development, updating and customizing marketing materials, and serving as a resource for inquiries

Craft and prepare compelling external strategy collateral including but not limited to pitch books, white papers, blogs, fact sheets, and product briefs

Create articulate and relevant strategy commentaries, client presentations, and any other ad hoc collateral to further business development of the strategies

Responsible for coordinating accurate and high-quality responses to RFPs and other client deliverables

Interact with the portfolio management teams on an ongoing basis in order to stay up to date on the latest portfolio developments and to serve as a subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders

Gather, review, and apply data from internal and external sources and perform quantitative tasks, such as calculating performance characteristics, to support ongoing and ad hoc client requirements

Liaise between portfolio management teams and all other areas of the NB organization in support of these business development efforts as well as existing client relationships

Help maintain pipeline of key opportunities and related analytics across the Risk Balanced and broader Equity Leadership business
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, computer science or related field of study

4-6 years’ demonstrable experience in the asset management industry in an investment, client service, or marketing capacity strongly preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong analytical and technical skills including deep knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Knowledge of institutional and intermediary investment management marketing and client service methods a plus

Understanding of standard performance measurement, risk measurement, and attribution calculations and interpretations

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically

Attention to detail and business acumen essential

Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail

Energetic, independent thinker, who is flexible and adaptable and can handle many projects at once

Confident in public speaking

Progress towards the CFA or CAIA designations is a plus
Compensation Details
The salary range for this role is $115,000-$130,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
