~~Job Title: Positive Pay Night Teacher Aide for Adult Education
Supervisor: Principal
Terms of Employment: 185 days
Job Summary:
To support school administration and faculty in providing appropriate services to non-English speaking students and in communicating with the parents and guardians of these students.
Essential Duties
1. Provide support to English language learners in mainstream and ESOL classes.
2. Serve as liaison between teachers and parents of English language learners.
3. Translate oral and written communication between schools and families.
4. Serve as liaison between school and non-English speaking community.
5. Serve as liaison between school and appropriate translation providers.
6. Facilitate completion of paperwork for non-English speaking students.
7. Collect records and maintain files for ESOL students.
8. Administer placement test to non-English speaking students.
9. Participate in in-service training programs, as needed.
10. Assist teachers by locating, preparing and organizing instructional materials.
Other Duties
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the District’s policy on the Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)
1. Associate’s Degree, or 60 College credit hours or successful completion of NCLB (No Child Left Behind) state assessment test.
2. Experience working with ESOL students
3. Bilingual
4. Valid driver’s license and personal automobile
5. Proficient in the use of technology.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
