Postdoctoral Position in Autoimmunity and Musculoskeletal Disorders –

Dr. Alessandra Pernis Lab


A Postdoctoral position in Autoimmunity and Musculoskeletal Disorders is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Alessandra Pernis at the Hospital for Special Surgery affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated individuals whose primary responsibility will be to investigate the role of a novel B cell subset, ABCs (Autoimmunity/Age-Associated B cells), in autoimmunity and inflammation. The main focus of the lab is to exploit state-of-the-art molecular and genomic approaches, animal models, and patient-derived samples to dissect the cellular and molecular networks that become dysregulated in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Musculoskeletal Disorders (please see our recent work in Nature Immunology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Nature Communications, Arthritis & Rheumatology, and Annals of Rheumatic Diseases).

Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree, a background in cellular and molecular immunology, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently. This position provides opportunities to develop strong translational research experience relevant for individuals interested in furthering their career by pursuing medical school or other clinical training.
