The Sanitation Districts are currently recruiting to fill one Engineering Associate II, III, Electrical/Mechanical Engineer within Wastewater Management Department within the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant (JWPCP).
The Sanitation Districts are a non-civil service public agency with over 1,700 employees, including over 200 engineers. We are nationally recognized for innovative engineering practices and leadership in designing, constructing, and operating state-of-the-art systems for solid waste and wastewater management.
Our JWPCP in Carson is located off the 110 freeway near the Sepulveda Blvd. exit. WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
JOINT WATER POLLUTION CONTROL PLANT, CARSON
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of a Supervising Engineer, the incumbent will plan, conduct, and support engineering projects related to the operation and maintenance of the Total Energy Facility at JWPCP; develop and recommend engineering solutions for the plant; interact with other District departments, regulatory agencies and the public; and perform duties to ensure compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.

This position will be assigned to JWPCP in Carson, CA Initial salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must possess :

For ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE II, Option A: A bachelor's degree and master's degree both in a pertinent engineering discipline from an accredited and recognized college or university; Option B: A bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a related science with an Engineer-In-Training Certificate and a master's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a pertinent engineering discipline; Option C: Two years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university. For ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE III, Two years of experience as an Engineering Associate II -OR- Four years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university. For MECHANICAL ENGINEER or ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer with the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists -AND- Option A: Six years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university; Option B: A master's degree in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university -AND- Three years of professional engineering experience; Option C: A PhD in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university -AND- two years of professional engineering experience.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with oversight of combined cycle power plant operations, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas pretreatment systems, gas turbine operation, steam systems/turbine operation; a Bachelor and/or Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering of Electrical Engineering; possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with the California Board of Professional Engineers.
