Overview:
Western National is seeking a motivated Premium Billing Specialist to join our Premium Billing Team and provide billing support for policyholders, agents, and colleagues. This role is an excellent opportunity to process policyholder premiums and associated activities while ensuring the timely and accurate posting of payments. The person in this position will be responsible for applying customer payments and be directly involved in the daily reconciliation of Accounts Receivables.

The ideal candidate must have billing and accounts receivable experience and be a self-starter who is willing to learn and take on new challenges. This individual will utilize multiple billing systems and enjoy working on a team. The Premium Billing Specialist is adaptable to business needs, enjoys special projects, and demonstrates strong customer service skills.

This role offers a hybrid work schedule after the initial in-office training period.

The full hiring range for this role is: $19.30-$27.00 hourly; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Responsibilities:
  • Processes accounts receivable payments made by policyholders and agents through multiple systems.
  • Researches and corrects payment application errors.
  • Performs daily reconciliation of accounts receivable receipts with bank deposit for various payment types (ex. online, ACH, checks).
  • Maintains unclaimed property records to ensure compliance with various state requirements.
  • Creates and documents procedures.
  • Communicates professionally with policyholders, agents, and co-workers via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Manages the collection process to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
  • Reviews and processes refunds.
  • Consistently meets our customer experience standards including responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, building rapport, and demonstrating empathy.
  • Manages the customer’s expectations using the proper communication channels and takes ownership to ensure the customer’s issue is resolved.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounts receivable process is required.
  • Previous experience working in a billing department is strongly preferred.
  • Insurance premium experience is a plus.
  • Strong initiative in seeking out new challenges and opportunities to expand skills and responsibilities.
  • Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Accurate and strong attention to detail.
  • Good organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year degree in related field or experience in lieu of degree preferred.
