As a Principal Cyber Engineer you will be responsible as part of a team of highly skilled professionals for designing, developing, testing and integration of a “from the ground up” new Microsoft on-premises Enterprise IT datacenter for supporting multiple DoD organizations. This is an outstanding opportunity to design and build a new greenfield on-premise cloud solution that will eventually connect to commercial cloud providers. This position offers great opportunities for technical experience and growth. Position has some remote work flexibility.
Position Responsibilities:
Designing, developing, testing, and integrating NIST 800-53 series Protection Level 3 Cybersecurity solutions in an on-premises Enterprise IT datacenter using Agile methodologies in accordance with best practices
Producing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or Configuration as Code (CaC), delivering solutions with a code first approach with sufficient comments and structure
Participate in peer code reviews
The Cybersecurity Engineer shall work with customers to verify security controls and assist in implementing strategies to ensure the cybersecurity posture of the systems is effective and able to scale
Designs, tests, and implements secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, tuning and management of IT security systems and applications, incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery actions.
Develops solutions to implement Zero Trust Architecture
Identifies potential conflicts with implementation of any CND tools within the enterprise and develop recommendations to remediate these conflicts.
Provides subject matter expertise in creation, editing, and management of signatures, rules and filters for specialized network defense systems including but not limited to network and host-based IDS, IPS, firewall, web application firewall, proxy and SIEM systems.
Develops and documents security engineering guidance, processes, and procedures.
Collaborates closely with the team using Agile methodologies
Designs, tests, and implements secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, tuning and management of IT security systems and applications, incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery actions.
Conducts risk and vulnerability assessment at the network, system and application level.
Researches, evaluates and recommends new security tools, techniques, and technologies and introduces them to the enterprise in alignment with IT security strategy.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or other related scientific or technical discipline is preferred. Work experience or industry certifications demonstrating technical proficiency may be substituted for education requirements
7+ years of relevant experience
Minimum DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification required (CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Sec+, CND, SSCP)
DoD 8570 Computing Environment certification within 6 months of hire
Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, JSON or Ansible for automation
Experience with security apps such as Ivanti
Secure printing
RSA MFA
Appgate
Sentris
Palo Alto
Splunk
HBSS
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud platforms
Minimum DoD 8570 IAT Level 3 certification
Experience with secure cloud edge computing solutions
GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Azure DevOps or other code repositories experience
CI/CD pipeline experience
Clearance Requirements:
Active Top Secret clearance adjudicated within the past 6 years. Candidate must be open to CI poly.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75%
The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office.
The person in this position will need to be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
