The Microsoft Data Security & Privacy (DSP) organization is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic, collaborative team in building core infrastructure platforms and services that enable our customer solutions.

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of services that are scalable, highly available, compliant, and deployed globally via CI/CD.
- Guides others through efforts and discussions for architecture of aspects of products/solutions. Creates proposals for architecture and design documents, and leads testing of hypotheses and proposed solutions.
- Guides team to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers). Breaks down very long-term project vision into milestones.
- Drive the team in all-aspects of the engineering life cycle including project planning, prioritization of work, architecture, development, and release.
- Partner closely with our Program Management, Design, research, and solution teams in increasing customer adoption.
- Support, mentor, and help engineers grow building an inclusive team environment where everyone can deliver their best work.
- Advocate for and maintain a culture of high-quality software development.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years people management experience.
Other Requirements:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#,Java- 4+ years of experience in distributed systems
- Prior experience with big data platform pipeline development, microservices and Azure
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
