Title: Private Café Team Member
Status: Full-time, hourly
Union job: Yes, Local 8
Compensation: $20 / hour plus tips
Sign-on bonus: $1,500 total: $500 after 90 days of employment, $1,000 after 6 months
Schedule: Saturdays, Mondays, and when needed on a weekly basis
Remote options: In-person only

Our Café Team Members work as a team to create sandwiches, salads, wraps, smoothies, and coffee drinks. We will teach you how to make it all!

We also bus tables, handle dishes, make sure the Café is sparkling, and work the cash register (POS system) in our beautiful WAC Café.

We need more Team Members to provide top notch service to our WAC Café customers! The WAC Café Team is a small group of hard-working, genuine, positive, and dedicated people who are looking for someone with these qualities to join us.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Brings food items from our third floor Kitchen to the 8th floor Café (our Club is 21 floors! We have many elevators)
• Works the Deli line to prepare orders from our delicious menu. We create sandwiches, salads, wraps, smoothies, and coffee drinks. Be prepared to improve your kitchen skills!
• We focus on food quality and presentation which we believe keeps our guests coming back
• Operates our cash register/POS system. Receiving money, making change, charging to Member accounts, recording and tallying sales, and counting the till.
• Allows the café to SPARKLE! We take pride in our cleanliness. Some duties include clearing tables, wiping down surfaces, and cleaning areas as needed.
• Restocks supplies such as napkins, condiments, paper products, and writes a list of items that need to be ordered.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a current food handler’s permit and a MAST Card (Class 12 or 13 alcohol service certification permit), issued by the State of Washington.
• MUST be willing to work in a fast-paced environment!
• Must have successful Customer Service experience. Food and Bev industry preferred
• Decent English verbal and written communication skills are necessary. We communicate with Club Members, Team Members, and Guests both on the phone and in person
• Ideally one year of Deli Prep and/or Cashier experience
• Completion of High School education or equivalent is required

The Washington Athletic Club (WAC) is a Private, members-only Health and Fitness Club featuring extensive amenities for our members, including fitness centers, a stunning pool, three restaurants, a boutique hotel, a spa, banquet halls, and more. Built in 1930, our beautifully maintained twenty-one-story building is a unique national historic landmark located in downtown Seattle. It is truly a city within a city! The WAC Café is on the 8th floor of the building with a nice view of downtown Seattle.
