A global organization with a focus on innovation in sustainable engineered material and thermal solutions is seeking a Process Automation Engineer to provide support for manufacturing, automation, and continuous improvement projects including product and process flow, CAPA, new line installation, plant layout, etc.

Process Automation Engineer Responsibilities

· Provide support to manufacturing by evaluating equipment and processes and designing, developing and implementing improvements. Identification of process/product quality improvement opportunities and implementation.

· Technical and engineering support to manufacturing operations and customers.

· Process support/project management for continuous improvement of critical processes to drive process capability.

· Communicate effectively with suppliers, manufacturing personnel and customers, providing technical and engineering support.

· Support lean manufacturing initiatives by participating in events, assisting wherever possible, and following up to ensure that gains are maintained.

· Assist QA in root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.

· Create and conduct DOE, perform root cause analysis and process characterization through the use of FMEA’s, risk analysis, and data analysis using statistical techniques.

· Assist in maintenance of tooling and machinery including performing routine maintenance activities.

· Continually research new machinery/methods of production to better the organizations manufacturing processes.

Process Automation Engineer Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering highly preferred

· Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals

· Excellent organization and time management skills with strong ability to prioritize and multi-task across competing demands

· Ability to shift priorities quickly without losing attention to detail

· Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds

· Read, analyze and interpret complex procedures or regulations and write correspondence

· Strong written, oral and interpersonal communications skills

· Recommends solutions to common problems with outside of the box thinking

· A customer-focused (internal and external) mindset, with the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams

· Ability to work independently without direct supervision

This is a fully onsite opportunity in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
