Majestic Steel USA is hiring a Process Engineer for our new state-of-the-art facility in Blytheville, Arkansas!

The Process & Controls Engineer is responsible for evaluating existing processes and controls systems, and configuring systems and material flow to reduce cost, improve reliability, and develop best practices within the service center. The successful candidate will work side-by-side with the reliability and leadership team to reduce waste in the operation by utilizing continuous improvement methods. They will be responsible for planning, programming, and troubleshooting the electrical control systems on various pieces of equipment and machinery. They would also assist in identifying and sourcing new equipment by specifying control systems and leading the integration team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross functionally with maintenance, operations, and engineering to continuously improve controls systems on various pieces of steel processing equipment.
  • Trouble shoot, modify, and install controls systems including equipment operation, safety circuit integration, technology upgrades, and processing line enhancements.
  • Assess the control systems on new and existing equipment and recommend innovative solutions to improve throughput while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Document and maintain control system schematics including electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
  • Source, program, and integrate safety control devices and circuits such as light curtains and zone scanners.
  • Lead new equipment installation, electrical integration, and runoff.
  • Evaluate and improve on material flow through the process lines in the service center operations.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
  • Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of service center operations.
  • Provide suggestions during incident investigations.
  • Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective and working operations process.
  • Research and recommend new manufacturing technology.
  • Support the development of systems and measurements that help the business make profitable decisions.
  • Other job related duties and special projects as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering or equivalent number of years’ experience working in an engineering capacity.
  • Five years of experience in industrial environment programming and troubleshooting equipment controls, safety circuits, HMI, drives, and PLC ladder logic.
  • 5 years of process engineering related experience.
  • Knowledgeable in hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power.
  • Proficient in PLC ladder programming and controls wiring.
  • Ability to apply practical solutions and utilize critical problem solving techniques.
  • Strong understanding of process flow principals, value stream mapping, and lean initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of equipment design and application.
  • Technologically savvy and experience working with Microsoft Office products, Windows-based applications, and CAD design software.

  • Ability to draw in 2-D and/or 3-D drawing platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven work experience in an industrial, mechanical, or process engineering position.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principals.
  • Program and/or large-scale project experience; to include familiarity with capital project management tools.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement efforts with demonstrated sustained outcomes.
  • Prior experience in a full-time process engineering role.
  • Experience mentoring/coaching others and leading change Ability to take initiative exhibit a sense of urgency which translates to operations.
  • Mechanical engineering aptitude.
  • Six Sigma black-belt certification, with a proven track record of business performance improvement.

Additional

  • Must be able to work outside normal business hours/days as needed.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally and work at an outside location.
