Job description
Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Chemist/ Chemical Engineer to join our staff in our Mount Clemens, Michigan facility. The candidate will join the Process Technology group within our Technology Organization at the North American Technology Center supporting our liquid coatings businesses. Under the guidance of a senior professional, the successful candidate will plan, align, execute, and interpret results from experiments in product commercialization and technical service programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Scale- up and alignment of the formulas in the manufacturing area ensuring manufacturing feasibility while meeting customer specifications including establishment of specifications and test methods, fine tuning of the formula to allow first time OK quality and problem solving to the area when appropriate. Supporting the execution of new product introductions.
- Development and implementation of the right process technology for specific technologies.
- Improvement of the manufacture processes
- Commitment to problem solving both internal and external.
- Support of global initiatives and key performance indicators.
- Ability to lead and / or be a significant contributor in cross-functional teams to support product development, scale-up, and manufacturing.
- B.S/M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or closely related discipline is required.
- At least one (1) year of experience working in a lab environment is required. Additional experience working in the in the chemical or coatings industry is preferred but not required.
- Candidate must have outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Candidate must me proficient in with MS Office.
