Job Description:
The role of the Procurement Category Lead is to guide category strategies and strategic sourcing events in alignment with business requirements and cross-functional partners. The Category Lead ensures that the strategy developed is dynamic and responsive to the market, customer, supplier, and company needs. This person may have primary responsibility for key supplier relationships and drives supplier selection and contracting process.
  • Maintains continuous in-depth knowledge of market conditions, industry trends, developing technologies, etc. in the assigned category/categories
  • Balances work assignments within the team to optimize results
  • Develops purchase strategy for assigned category/categories
  • Negotiates and awards purchase orders and contracts
  • Establishes and manages key supplier performance goals and objectives in partnership with the business
  • Develops keen awareness of industry performance benchmarks
  • Liaise between Legal, Corporate Insurance Services, and various department and business units
  • Conduct research of potential suppliers, develop RFx events, develop and manage contracts, conduct price, and terms negotiation, facilitating the protection of the enterprise from risk while maximizing value
  • Assist internal customers in drafting scopes of services and requirements as needed
Job Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of experience in corporate procurement and/or supply chain management (indirect experience preferred) where financial analysis, contracting, &/or complex analysis is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (If no degree, 10 years of experience required)
  • A comprehensive knowledge of supply management principles and practices
  • Must possess strong analytical skills including the ability to construct and execute multiple complex assessments (TCO, ROI, NPV) simultaneously
  • Must possess the ability to translate the implications of investigations into preliminary recommendations
  • Highly collaborative team-oriented individual with proven ability to build relationships
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organization, time management, and planning skills
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Proven negotiating skills with a strong understanding of price/cost analysis
  • Excellent PC skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience using SAP Ariba solution is a plus
  • CPM/CPSM certification
