GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED
The Product Design Engineer supports Corvette America’s initiatives by bringing new products from concept to production and continuously improving product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
This position is requires the successful candidate to work on-site to complete all responsibilities and is not eligible for remote work.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Work with Engineering and R&D Team to create 2D/3D CAD packages of new and existing reverse-engineered parts to facilitate creation of both in-house and externally sourced tooling and finished parts
2. Utilize CAD/CAM to program 5-axis CNC machinery for mold creation and production machining processes with a focus on product quality and machine efficiency
3. Continually improve and modify product specifications and production procedures based on customer and industry feedback using living documentation and following quality control procedures
4. Track time and cost of new tooling projects to create accurate project timelines with complete Bill of Materials
5. Research new manufacturing capabilities and assist with installation and implementation of new equipment and processes
Education:
B.S. in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
Must Have:
· 2D/3D CAD proficiency (Solidworks preferred)
· CAM/CNC proficiency (MasterCAM 5-Axis preferred)
o Understanding of machining best practices
o Basic understanding of mold design
· Experience with “design for manufacture”
· Ability to compile CAD packages with Bill of Materials
· Understanding of general automotive systems and how they interact
· Passion for automobiles and the automotive industry
o Ability to physically work on vehicles and perform product measurements and test-fits
· Ability to learn new skills as needed
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred:
· Knowledge of domestic automotive systems
o Classic and late model
· Experience with 3D laser scanning
· Mold construction knowledge
· Knowledge of various Quality Control systems and documentation practices
