We are seeking a professional like you to join our Performance Chemical Division supporting our Product Management Plastic Additives team at the Houston, Texas office.

BASF is a global leader in Plastic Additives. The Performance Chemicals Division serves the plastics industry via its integrated Plastic Additives platform combining two strategic business units: Antioxidants and Process Stabilizers (EVK) and Light Stabilizers (EVF). These products enable plastic applications in Building and Construction, Automotive, Packaging, Agriculture, Fiber and other industries.

As a Product Manager at BASF, you will be responsible for the operational management of the Plastic Additives Standard Antioxidants product portfolio in the North America region, with net sales of >$100m. You will be the regional overseer for pricing, profitability, planning and availability of the Standard Antioxidants product range, acting as the main interface between our front-end commercial activities with customers and the back-end functions supporting them. The Product Manager will also be responsible for the regional implementation of SBU and product strategies as well as initiatives developed by the Global Product Manager, a position currently located in Hong Kong and Singapore.

As a Product Manager you create chemistry by…

• Providing and developing regional pricing guidelines to regional Sales teams & cost development forecasting.
• Defining and validating regional product strategy (make to stock or make to order) and positioning, as well as value proposition within the broader product portfolio strategy (with input from IP Management).
• Managing asset utilization and inventories for North America, as well as managing global product flows in alignment with Global Product Management & Supply Chain.
• Identifying & driving improvement projects to optimize costs and reduce complexity together with Technology, Operations & Sales.
• Contributing to sustainability driven business development projects, product launches and to business case development of innovation projects.
• Assuring compliance (liaise with Product Stewardship & Regulatory) and quality for the product portfolio (in framework of Non-Conformance Management and Management of Change process).
• Analyzing and defining the competitive positioning of current and new products in the portfolio to determine regional optimization opportunities.

Your formula for success…

• Having earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Business. MBA is a plus.
• 3+ years in Product Management, Marketing, or other Business roles.
• Experience in Plastic/Chemical industry.
• Knowledge of Plastics Additives market / technologies a plus.
• Excellent skills in process and project management.
• Developed analytical skills and strategic thinking.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.
