Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
- Performs routine characterization analyses on incoming waste samples to verify and QC waste “fingerprint” profiles.
- Reviews and accepts all fingerprint sample data prior to being released for processing.
- Maintains all sample logbooks and recordkeeping in the lab.
- Enters test data into AS-400 LIMS system.
- Responsible for following all QA/QC measures.
- Utilizes common laboratory instrumentation to perform testing.
- Performs instrumentation troubleshooting.
- Provides feedback to Lab Supervisor regarding workflow, quality and timeliness in performing analysis.
- Maintains cleanliness and general upkeep of the lab.
- Ensures all safety requirements are met or exceeded.
- Generates and maintains all paperwork and documentation associated with fingerprint and miscellaneous testing.
- Daily use of advanced PC and business computer applications, telephone conferencing and e-mail.
- Understands both RIS’ OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and assists with executing their objectives.
Performs other job-related duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in chemistry or natural science.
- Hands-on laboratory experience is required (i.e., one year of school lab or one year professional).
- Must be technically competent and have a good understanding of physical properties and characteristics of common chemicals.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time while performing analyses.
- Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
