The Production Data Specialist plays a key role in maintaining accurate finished seafood product data. This includes coordinating, monitoring, and reviewing production documents to ensure complete, accurate and documented product and inventory data. Communicate and coordinate regularly with co-workers at the plant and corporate level to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of operations. To round out your role as the Production Data Specialist you will oversee Full Container Load (FCL) booking daily shipments and Less than Container Load (LCL) for Sales to include verification, resolving any discrepancies, and ensuring they flow correctly in VMS.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Assist with creating and maintaining standardized shipping documents, including updating for new seasons, working with plant shippers to edit as needed, maintain standardized pallet/tote and shipment sequences, active and archived files in OneDrive.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) standardized program for data checking at the plant and corporate levels.
  • Full Container Load (FCL) daily shipments for our processing facilities in Alaska (Sitka, Craig, Valdez, Naknek, False Pass, Kodiak) to include fact check/verify, resolve discrepancies with plant(s), move into to the correct workflow in VMS, send daily paperwork correction emails and daily BOL correction emails.
  • Less than Container Load (LCL) daily shipments - Plant Sales for our Sitka, Craig, Valdez, Naknek, False Pass, Kodiak, CAS Sales to include fact check/verify, resolve any discrepancies with plant(s) and ensure they are moved into correct workflow.
  • Utilize IMS to monitor inventory records in Blank, Data Entry, and submitted workflows to eliminate false records that throw off totals of auto-generated reports
  • Monitor van records in Blank, Data Entry, Submitted, and Cold Storage workflows to keep false or empty fan records cleaned up.
  • IMS/VMS program development, reporting glitches found and fixes needed to include inventory batch edits as needed.
  • Travel to plants to implement training, monitor implementation and create solutions to improve the process.
  • Keep immediate supervisor and internal partners completely and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Business, Logistics, or related field preferred but not required.
  • 3+ years in seafood production experience preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience communicating with internal and external suppliers.
  • Experience creating, editing, and maintaining procedural documentation.

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a year-round position with long hours required (12+ hours per day, 7 days per week) during the fishing seasons (March/April, June – September). Extended leave during the off season (October – February) is possible, depending on business needs. Must be able to travel to remote facilities as needed.

While performing the essential function and job duties associated with the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Salary Disclosure

The typical hourly pay range for this role is $18.00 -$21.00per hour. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
