What to Expect
Tesla’s cell materials team is looking for an experienced and driven Production Planner to support material production goals. The planner will be responsible for scheduling and monitoring materials across the production stream for Tesla’s cell material manufacturing. The planner will also be responsible for structuring and performing analysis to support the production capacity and aligning with each department for material flow.
What You’ll Do
  • Support material manufacturing by creating production schedules that reconcile cell material capacity with demand for cell components, following the factory’s master schedule.
  • Perform analysis that supports defining the roadmap for production capacity increases/change.
  • Work with material manufacturing, quality department, & support teams to establish & improve processes (e.g. production batch sizes, material transfer processes & controls) for just-in-time or line-side Kanban delivery.
  • Respond to unanticipated changes—e.g. production shortfall vs. schedule or material shortages: provide information, impact assessment, and options to downstream shops, revise production shifts and or mix as needed.
  • Generate and publish production performance metrics and forecasts showing risk to supply of fabricated components vs. demand.
  • Communicating plans, plan revisions, and production vs. plan to all Manufacturing, support, and business stakeholders.
  • Manage the flow of product with a quality disposition and schedule possible rework WIP with the quality and leadership teams.
  • Reconcile cell material production orders and reconcile material waste through the financial system
  • Represent cell material production in the operational planning process for Tesla Cell Production.
  • Assist in implementing systematic solutions to control inventory flow, minimize shortages.
  • Collaborate with Supply chain and Engineering to coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to plan for material and product requirements
  • Complete other duties assigned by management as business needs shift or change
  • Effectively plan with cell operations, vendors, and contractors; and facilitate expedition of materials and services to cell manufacturing
  • Create and maintain data base of planned ready-to-work WO to be used in the daily/weekly or mini-outage scheduling processes. This includes reporting accurate resource data to the CAFM Lead to support scheduling resource leveling.
  • Create and publish weekly and daily schedules.
  • Attend daily CPMS meetings with leadership and peers and review, revise, or finalize the next days or weeks work schedule.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, Finance, Industrial Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
  • 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, finance, supply chain management or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP with a solid understand of discrete manufacturing, bills of material, product lifecycle management, procure to pay processes and supply chain operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate and analyze data to enable operational decision-making or present clear recommendations to leadership.
  • Passionate and high energy, with the diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to positively influence others
  • Ability to write, speak and present effectively and persuasively.
