Job description

The Program Assistant II assists staff in the implementation of outreach and referral service by providing program and clerical support, site activities, and operating and maintaining the program vehicle to transport eligible program participants.

The Program Assistant has extensive and daily contact with elderly participants, vendors, volunteers, community agencies and organizations.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of human service experience in a health, education, Hawaiian culture or social service program.
• Substitution: Bachelors degree in Pubic Health, Health, Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or other closely related field may be substituted for experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to communicate and work with the elderly and work with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to use a computer using word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
• Ability to drive a large passenger van and/or para-transit bus
• Valid Hawaii driver's license, current no fault insurance and daily access to an automobile.
• Excellent driving record verified by a City and County Traffic Abstract.
• First Aid and CPR certified or able to obtain these certificates shortly after being employed.

Desired Requirements:

• Experience, understanding, and knowledge of Native Hawaiian culture and values.
• CDL certified.
• Knowledge of medical conditions and ability to respond when required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.76 - $19.21 per hour
