Position Title: Adult Education Program Coordinator - Woburn
Position Type: Full-time exempt
Reports To: Program Director of Adult Education
Come and make a difference in people’s lives! The YMCA ILC Woburn has been helping immigrants learn English and develop employment skills to improve their lives for over 24 years. We are looking for an ESOL Program Coordinator who will work with the program director, advisors, and instructional staff, to administer quality programming that supports students’ progress toward next steps in postsecondary education, training, and/or employment leading to a family-sustaining wage. Our Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) funded program is a highly rated adult ESOL program which offers both morning and evening English classes to a diverse group of adult English language learners. This position requires some evening hours and an opportunity for growth.
Program Coordinator Responsibilities
- Create and execute outreach plans for programming in partnership with marketing
- Lead outreach and recruitment for ESOL program throughout the year utilizing both traditional and digital media
- Raise awareness of programs by strengthening social media presence.
- Coordinate intake and assessment processes set by program leadership
- Assist with interviewing, administering appropriate placement tests and placing students in correct levels
- Administer standardized tests, BEST Plus 2.0, TABE CLAS-E and other assessments for accepted students
- Assures all required paperwork is completed for each student
- Leads initial orientation of students in collaboration with teachers and advisors
- Ensure program waitlist is current in accordance with branch and funder requirements
- Collaborate with teachers and advisors to monitor attendance and enroll new students monthly to ensure compliance with funder enrollment expectations
- Work with leadership staff and teachers to develop a program calendar of testing dates and guest speakers
- Coordinate program activities with employer partners, service day groups, and nonprofit volunteers
- Create workshop series with employer partners to lead skill-building seminars, mentor relationships, workplace tours, etc., to spark students’ interests and confidence to pursue high demand careers
- Assists with required follow up of students
- Substitute in ESOL classes when necessary
Administrative responsibilities include:
- Engage in high-quality professional development and remain current on funder policies and requirements
- Ensure high-quality data capture and management in YMCA and funder databases and monitor program performance according to funder standards
- Report deliverables to leadership and other stakeholders and assist with grant and report writing
- Participate actively in meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of program
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Education background preferred
- TESOL, TEFL, TESL certificate preferred
- Sensitivity to socio-economic and ethnic minority issues
- Strong organizational, communication skills, and inter-personal skills; is detail oriented
- Familiarity with DESE policies and requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, LMS platforms, and Zoom
- Strong math, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Eager to contribute to a collaborative working environment
- Bilingual a plus
